Our Leaders

The Council of Bishops is composed of Incumbent Bishops and Bishops Emeritus whose duties and functions include attending to matters of faith, life, mission, and welfare of the Church; issuing pastoral letters and public statements on various questions and concerns reflecting the life and mission of the Church in consultation with the Faith and Order Commission; resolving issues and conflicts relating to faith and doctrine; and supervising the clergy formation program.

Together with the incumbent Bishops, the officers of the General Assembly constitute the Executive Council, which decides on matters that arise in between sessions of the National Council. The Executive Council also serves as preparatory committee for the next session or special meetings of the National Council or the General Assembly. Except for the General Secretary and the Bishops of the Church, all officers of the General Assembly are laypersons. The Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and National Auditor serve a term of four years without re-election. The General Secretary and the National Treasurer serve a term of four years with one possible re-election.
